SMD Collaborates with University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at Houston Campus paid a courtesy call on the Management of the School of Medicine and Dentistry, College of Health Sciences on Thursday, September 28, 2017 to discuss collaborations with the School in clinical and research activities.

The team explained that the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the original three comprehensive cancer centers in the United States and widely regarded as the foremost cancer center in the world. The Center is a dedicated cancer hospital with about 665-bed facility.

The Vice-Dean of the School of Medicine and Dentistry spoke about the School’s commitment to produce first class doctors and dentists through quality teaching and learning, skills acquisition, research training and knowledge dissemination. He stated that the School has continued to produce outstanding doctors and dentists globally over the past 50 years.

He was of the view that in line with the University’s vision of attaining a status of a world-class research University, the collaboration will intensify research and clinical activities among faculty, staff and students so as to create a culture of excellence.
